Visionaries of the Kaleidoscope created by Asa + Yu

10-21 September 2018

Visionaries of the Kaleidoscope is an installation by collaborative duo Asa + Yu.

Invented by British scientist Sir David Brewster, the kaleidoscope became familiar to children as a toy in Japan after it was imported during the Edo era.  Asa + Yu’s spatial installation uses an Origami method for making kaleidoscopes, incorporating an automated mechanism to rotate and move the sculpture. Images and colours are projected on to the reflective surfaces, which in turn suffuse the gallery walls with whimsical geometric patterns.

Come and experience this immersive installation at TOTO, 140 St John Street, EC1V 4UA.

Visionaries of the Kaleidoscope is part of Clerkenwell Design Quarter.

Opening times: 09.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. Closed weekends.
